Why Small & Big Businesses Use WordPress & WordPress Web Design Companies
You may be wondering about the benefits of utilizing WordPress for your business’s website, instead of Shopify, Wix, or Squarespace. And, the answer is simple. WordPress is a content management system (CMS) and a highly customizable solution that small businesses can use whether they need to set up an eCommerce website, need to provide booking services for customers or just need to showcase their services and capture leads for their business. Almost 40% of websites on the internet are made with WordPress. Even the White House’s website is made in WordPress!
Off the bat, here are some reasons why a business would/should utilize WordPress to build their website:
- User-Friendly: WordPress is known for its intuitive and user-friendly interface. It doesn’t require extensive technical knowledge.
- Scalability: WordPress can grow with your business. Whether you have a small startup, eCommerce business, or a large corporation, you can start with a basic site and add features or functionalities as your needs evolve.
- Content Management: WordPress excels at content management. Its interface makes it easy to publish, update, and organize content, which is essential for businesses that frequently update their websites.
- Community Support: WordPress has a large and active user community, meaning you can find support, tutorials, and solutions to common issues easily. Most importantly, you can find a lot of people who can help you manage your WordPress website.
- Security: While no platform is immune to security threats, WordPress has a range of security plugins and best practices that can help protect your site from common threats.
- Cost-Effectiveness: WordPress itself is open source and free to use. While you may need to invest in themes, plugins, and hosting, it’s often more cost-effective than building a custom website from scratch.
- Mobile Responsiveness: Many WordPress themes are custom-designed to be mobile-responsive, ensuring that your website looks and functions well on various devices, including smartphones and tablets.
- Analytics and Data: WordPress can be easily integrated with analytics tools to track user behavior, monitor website performance, and make data-driven decisions.
- Multilingual Support: If your business operates in multiple countries or regions, WordPress offers multilingual support through plugins, making it easier to reach a global audience.
Types of Custom WordPress Websites
1. Custom Coded WordPress Websites
A custom-coded WordPress website site that is typically coded in HTML, CSS, PHP, and JS, using WordPress frameworks like Roots, Bones and Themify. This type of solution is typically for websites that require complete control over every aspect of your website’s design and functionality, or if you need an advanced feature or functionality that would only be possible through code. The goal of a WordPress development team is to create a custom-coded website is to use little to no WordPress plugins.
2. Custom WordPress Website (Page Builder)
A custom WordPress website that is built with a page builder like Elementor, Divi, or Breakdance. This type of solution is usually best for small businesses that don’t need any specific or complicated features. It’s also good for businesses that like the customizability of WordPress and being able to add features with a widget or plugin without the need to hire a developer. With this type of WordPress solution, you can also learn how to edit and manage your own website, whereas, with a custom-coded WP website, you would need to hire a developer to make changes for you.
Which Solution Is Best?
I can’t tell you what solution is best for you before we get on a call and I find out exactly what you want out of your website. However, to give you some direction into which solution is best, here is what I think:
Although both WordPress site solutions are viable, I believe custom-coded websites are totally against the point of using WordPress. With custom-coded WordPress websites, the website owner has little ability to make changes or edits to their website without hiring an outside website design company or keeping me employed. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to keep your business. But, I also love empowering business owners and giving them the tools to manage their own online presence. If they decide they rather have someone else, like me, manage their online presence or call me any time they want a new feature added; but they would ideally like to learn how to make changes and additions to their website without needing anyone, I would gladly help facilitate that. All that to say, with custom WordPress websites created with page builders and WordPress plugins, you can learn how to make edits in the page builder and nothing is set in stone. You can hire a consultant (like me) to take you through basic WordPress training so you and your team can manage your WordPress website internally.
Again, that’s not to say that custom-coded WordPress websites aren’t useful or the right solution for your business. It all depends on your type of business and what you want out of your website. If you need your website to be tight-knit and you believe it’s a website that won’t need any major changes in 2-5 years, then custom-coded is definitely the way to go. There are benefits to using custom code over page builders, like performance benefits and ease of use. But, there are negatives too.
All in all, both options have pros and cons. I’d only know what type of website to pitch to you if I knew more about your business and your goals for your website. The best way to determine which solution is best for you is to talk it out and brainstorm.
Site Launchr’s WordPress Website Design Packages
Site Launchr’s WordPress website design services offer a range of options to suit your specific needs. All of the WordPress website design packages you see here and on the website are just starting points and a general idea of a price point. Most WordPress web design agencies aren’t transparent about their prices and even have hidden costs in the fine print. The cost for your specific website might be less, or more than what is listed, but the idea behind it is to be as transparent as possible with the features and functionality you’re receiving for the cost. The costs also include domain hosting, website hosting, and other costs related with hosting a website. The real quote and cost for your site will be determined once we get on a call and determine a general scope of what you need for your new website.
Regardless of whether you’re a small business owner or an established company, there IS a package that can cater to your requirements. We just have to work it out!

Frequently Asked Questions About WordPress Web Design and Development Services
Here are some frequently asked questions my clients have come to me with that may be relevant to you:
- What is included in a WordPress website design package?
WordPress website design packages typically include WordPress design and development, theme installation, hosting help, plugin integration, responsive design for all devices, search engine optimization (SEO), and website maintenance. - How long would it take to build my WordPress website?
The timeline for building a WordPress website depends on various factors, such as the complexity of the design, the number of pages, and the availability of content. If you have everything ready, including hosting, images, and content, it could take much less time than if you were coming to me (or anyone else) with no hosting, no domain purchased, and no idea as to what type of site you want your business to have. However, on average, it can take anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months to complete a professional WordPress website. - Can I customize my WordPress site design?
Yes, one of the main advantages of WordPress is its flexibility for customization. With the right expertise, you can customize your website design to match your branding and specific requirements. - Can WordPress handle high website traffic?
Simply put, yes. The determining factor as to whether or not your site can serve high amounts of users is your hosting plan. As long as you buy the correct hosting plan, you should be golden. If you need help determining the best WordPress hosting plan and pricing, consult with your WordPress website design company or independent developer. - How does WordPress SEO work?
WordPress handles SEO almost like any other site. As long as everything is set up right and your WordPress agency is using the correct plugins for SEO, you have full flexibility in feeding search engines your SEO-optimized content. With the right setup, on-page SEO is almost automatic. - How come there’s such a big fluctuation between WordPress website pricing?
Well, some web designers and agency design and development services have to charge a higher amount because they have a team they need to pay. Sometimes it’s also because they have a high influx of clients and can only take on those who pay the highest prices for their WordPress services. Some web designers and website design agencies are undercharging on WordPress projects because they don’t have enough experience under their belt and they’re trying to build up their portfolio. The problem here is, no matter how high or low you spend, you can still get ripped off. The risk of going with a company that is more expensive is that you might fall through the cracks since they likely already have a lot of clients. The risk of going with a company that is less expensive is that you might not get your project finished, or there might be some features they can’t help you design and develop. The best way to pick the right designer or agency to design a WordPress website for you is to vet them, get on a call with them, and try and give them as much information as you can about your custom WordPress web design (so they know what they’re getting into), and most importantly, picking a company that is responsive and that you get along with. Bonus points if they have an “Our Work” page and you can see some of their previous work.
